In my bathroom
Toothpaste and whitener
Baking soda is an economical alternative in your homemade toothpaste recipes, you can even sprinkle it directly on your wet toothbrush if you run out of toothpaste one day. Its little extra, it also whitens teeth, for more effectiveness add a few drops of lemon juice and you get a natural whitener, to be used once a week maximum.
Mouthwash and good breath
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in half a cup of cold water and you get a natural mouthwash that is effective against mouth sores.
Baking soda has deodorizing properties, it will leave you with fresh breath and no bad odors.
It is also known to be a good gastric dressing or to facilitate digestion.
Hair
You can also reinforce the effectiveness of your shampoo with baking soda to remove any residue of hairspray or gel to do once a week, massage your scalp three to five minutes for a good result.
For the maintenance of the house

Deodorizer
To deodorize your fridge or cupboards, pour baking soda in a small dish and add a few drops of essential oil for a pleasant smell.
Pour some in the bottom of your garbage can once it is cleaned and no more bad smells. Sprinkle it on your mattresses, carpets and rugs, leave it for a few minutes and then vacuum.
In case of bad odors in your pipes, pour a tablespoon of baking soda then pour a glass of white vinegar, nothing could be easier.

Detergent

You can also use baking soda as a detergent, either in a preparation or as it is in the drum of your machine, it will clean and disinfect your machine in the process.
If your iron has a soleplate that is starting to blacken, don't hesitate to powder it with a slightly damp cloth. This will form a paste of baking soda, rubbed gently and this slightly abrasive paste will not scratch your iron.
Baking soda is also antifungal, so it stops the growth of pathogenic fungi.
Back from the pool, and your towels smell like chlorine? Say no more: 2 tablespoons in the drum of your washing machine and you will be rid of the chlorine smell.

Differences between bicarbonates

Pharmaceutical bicarbonate of soda is a little purer and therefore more expensive. Its use is strictly medical.
Technical baking soda, being more abrasive than the food grade, is the one used in household tasks. It is preferable to handle it with gloves if you have sensitive skin.
