There are 800 species, so much to tell you that we are far from having done the trick. We are lucky that they can be kept for a long time to accompany us throughout the winter.

They will reinforce our immune system, they have thousand and one virtues. They are used in decoration and in cooking, some of them are more famous than others, let's take stock.

Pumpkin

Also called Jack'o Lantern for Halloween lovers, moreover that sold for your most beautiful creations of scary pumpkins are not edible. For the others they have a flavor mildly sweetened and their flesh is declined in several recipes sautéed, gratinated, pan-fried, mashed, velvety, jam, just name it !.

potimarron squash

It has a brick red color, its flesh is yellow and more floury and it has a flavor close to the chestnut.
Do not hesitate to eat its skin which is edible.

butternut

Its shape is more elongated and its color is of a clear orange. It has a nutty taste, in salted or sweetened it will delight you.

spaghetti squash

It is of a very clear yellow color and its flesh once cooked breaks up in filament reminding the spaghettis from where its name. Keep it as a slimming ally because it is very low in calories and satiating.

Pattypan squash

It has a more flattened shape and a white color. Its taste is close to the artichoke, in quiche, velvety, fried or stuffed its flavor will seduce you. Know that its skin is edible.

Small bonus: keep their seeds and blanch them for 5 minutes, once drained, roast them in the oven or in a dry frying pan with a little salt and you have just made succulent seeds for the aperitif.
